Reading this may save your lifeThe meaning of lifeGod created the whole of this creation for the sole purpose of bringing a people to himself to live with Him for eternity. That is what life in this world is all about. That is the meaning of life. If you don't believe that God created it all, ask yourself who created the building across the street? You don't know? But you do know that someone created it because you know that buildings don't build themselves. Universes don't create themselves either. The universe, and everything in it, including you, has a creator. God created it all, and the only reason why this creation still exists today, and you are able to read this, is because His purpose in creating it is still ongoing. But it won’t continue forever.Why do you need Jesus?God loves you and He wants you to spend eternity with Him. Your short time in this world is the only time you have to decide whether or not to receive eternal life with Him.He has told us all about himself and His purpose in His word, the Bible. He also tells us that all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23), and that the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23). On our own, we simply can’t do anything that would allow us into God’s presence because our sin keeps us away. Doing good things in this life isn’t enough, because doing them doesn’t magically make it as though we never sinned, and our sin remains unforgiven. That is why you need Jesus. Jesus took the punishment for your sins in your place!Jesus sacrificed Himself to pay for your sins so that, through Him, you can enter into eternal life with God. God shows his love for us in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). Jesus Christ is the only way we have to become acceptable to God. Jesus said “I am the way, the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). Jesus died on the cross, He was raised from the dead, He ascended into heaven, and He did it all for us, so that we can be forgiven for our sins and made acceptable in the presence of God – and that includes you!That is why you need Jesus. God created you, He gave you life, He loves you, and He wants you to have eternal life with Him. But it’s up to you. He won’t force you. If you want to come to God and be saved for eternity, tell Him that you are sorry for your sins (it’s called repentance), and ask Him to forgive you. He will start a new life in you (it’s called being ‘born again’. See John 3:3). Just tell Him what you mean in your own words. He knows your heart. He is asking you to come to Him right now! If you are not sure how to talk to God and say what you mean, there is a prayer you can use on the other side of this letter. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9). For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved (Romans 10:13). What’s next?If you repent of your sin and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and saviour, you’ll need to get to know him.
